Current Position

Prof. George M. Bob-Milliar is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of History and Political Studies, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. He holds a Ph.D. in African Studies, with a specialization in politics and development. His research interests include comparative politics, African politics, Ghanaian political history, the political economy of development, democratic theory, political culture, qualitative methods, African Diaspora Studies, and Informal institutions. His articles have appeared in leading journals including The Journal of Modern African Studies, African Affairs, Democratization, Journal of Asian and African Studies, Africa: Journal of the International African Institute, African Review of Economics & Finance, Urban Anthropology, International Journal of African Historical Studies, and African Studies Quarterly.

He has been a visiting fellow at Cambridge University, Makerere University, and the Danish Institute for International Studies. He has also received prizes both for his published work (the prestigious African Author Prize for the best article published in African Affairs by an author based in an African institution, 2010) and for his contribution to research on African policy issues (from the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI, 2012).
