Amin Karimu is the head of the Energy, Environment, and Resource Economics section of the African Finance and Economics Consult, and an economist with a wide range of public and private sector experience. He is currently a lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School, and also a researcher at the Center for Environmental and Resource Economics (CERE), Sweden.

His consulting and research interests are electricity markets in Africa, energy efficiency policies, innovation and technology development in Africa, energy, and carbon tax policies, energy poverty interventions, renewable energy, commodity price shocks and trade in Africa, management of natural resources, and green and inclusive growth in Africa.

He has consulted for organizations such as the United Nations, the International Growth Centre, the Swedish Ministry of Finance, and the Swedish Energy Agency. Amin has an MSc in Economics and a Ph.D. in Economics (Umeå University) from Sweden.
