Prof. Michael Graham

Professor Michael Graham is a Senior Principal Consultant with the African Finance and Economics Consult. He holds a BSc and MSc in Economics from the University of Tampere, Finland, and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Vaasa, Finland. He was appointed Professor of Corporate Finance at the Business School, Stellenbosch University, in 2016. Before then, he held academic positions at the University of Vaasa, Finland, Deakin University, Australia, RMIT University, Australia, and Stockholm University, Sweden. He has also held visiting positions at academic institutions in Ghana, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore. Additionally, he was a Research Associate at the United Nations University, World Institute of Development Economics (UNU/WIDER), and a resident finance expert at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

Professor Michael Graham is an active consultant and has consulted widely in his area of expertise. His research interests include empirical corporate finance, corporate governance, financial markets, and emerging markets, and he is widely published on these themes in leading and internationally ranked peer-reviewed journals.
